Introducing Clear - an app for making lists. Sounds fun right? No really. It is.
The app is the first app by a very small studio called Impending. (http://impending.com/)
Clear is basically a really simple list application - which lets the user create, check off delete and order the items, based around a rainbow of colours.
The reason im bringing this to your attention is because it is a fine example of where I believe interaction design is heading - The application lacks absolutely any sort of interaction buttons or typical “UI”. Anyone of my design team will testify using an application’s own components as interaction points is a very difficult to do right but if done well is fantastic, easy to use and very “clear” (excuse the pun).
Impending have augmented the design with sounds that further bolster the natural format of interacting with the app which overall makes a lovely package - Watch video and all will become clear (oops did it again).
BBC.co.uk, Nike+ (http://www.nike.com/en_gb/makeitcount) and Microsoft are all utilising this style of design - where the user directly interacts with the content rather than “Chrome” (page structure). Microsoft is the true leader here with Metro.
