Flash for mobile - the model for application stores and mobile handsets is definitely one that has now become mainstream but definitely has its flaws. Namely the fact that as a content provider or developer you need to create numerous versions of the same application to work on the different platforms, which not only adds to costs but more importantly to time. Many companies have come to me offering a one-stop-solution of transcoding apps across at the flick of a button, but I have always been left un-impressed.

The future - in my view- is one of launchers. Allow me to explain - applications alongside their respective stores are here to stay, however with browser technology getting better by the second, Html 5 and the likes all allowing for deeper, sexier content visualization through mobile browsers (e.g Dominos Pizza web based application, autotrader etc) it seems counter intuitive to create specific apps for specific platforms.

What is important however is the marketing platforms appstores have created for developers/content providers big or small - therefore applications will still be bought through app stores, but will simply load a browser based instance of the app. Simple. One app for all platforms. Headache over.
